You can finally put away your task lists and
take a breath. You have the family that you wanted. Or, at least you’ve made a
great start on it. (We don’t know what the statistics are, but it certainly
seems that people, who adopt once, tend to go back and do it again.)
Yes, it’s true, that you may have
to go through a finalization process in the U.S.
courts and there will be post-placement social worker visits and reports on
your child that will need to be submitted to the agency on a regular basis for
awhile. But, all of those tasks are so minimal compared to the job you just
finished. And now, you know that every document and appointment and
certification and well sample was worth it because you have a beautiful child
in your life.
If our information has helped you
along the way, we’re delighted. But nothing makes us happier than the knowledge
that your family has been graced by a new member.
On the following pages, you will find the
International Agency Check List, that will help reduce your chances of becoming
victims of International Adoption Fraud. A great deal of this list can also be
used for Domestic Agencies.
